1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photograph of the Officers Mess in Folkestone about 1936-1937. We believe this was taken shortly after the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel M.C. Dempsey MC as Commanding Officer. Only two Officers in the group have been identified. Sat 4th Left is Lieutenant Colonel M.C. Dempsey MC, Sat 6th Left is Major Lionel Tremellen a Company Commander. (He was wounded in the battle of Oppy Wood, 1917, losing his left arm). We believe that stood middle row far right is Lieutenant Charles N.B. Dawson who joined the Regiment in 1936 and was evacuated from Dunkirk winning the Military Cross. He joined the airborne forces and was Killed in Action at Arnhem on the 20th September 1944.
