Bandmaster Dore had fought at Tofrek in the Sudan, Sergeant Addicot was awarded a DCM in 1918 whilst serving with the British West Indies Regiment in Egypt. Sergeant Farmer became a Sergeant Major in the 5th (Service) Battalion. He was killed in action on the 13th October 1915. Sergeant Lainsbury was recalled in 1914 and became the RSM of the 8th [Service] Battalion winning a DCM]

In the rear row, on the left is Sergeant Cane (Provost Sergeant), 3rd from the left is Sergeant Cole (Officers mess Sergeant - A note in the album states that he married the pretty daughter of Private and Mrs O' Keefe, 8th from the left is Sergeant Yardley who was the older of two brothers serving and who later reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and 10th from the left is Sergeant Kelly. In the 2nd row and on the extreme right is Sergeant Milson. In the 3rd row, on the extreme left is Sergeant Perry, 3rd from the left is Colour Sergeant Pendlebury, 5th from the left is Sergeant Webster, 7th from the left is Colour Sergeant Holland and 8th from the left is Band Sergeant Spencer. SBYRW : 579551st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment - A black and white photograph of one of the Presentations by the Battalion on their departure from West Berlin on the 2nd May, 1973. The events were a 'Farewell Historical Pageant' in the Kongresshalle, near the Brandenburg Gate. It consisted of a number of tableaux relating to the Regiments history. In this case the China Wars. Left is Sergeant Cole, with Sergeant Bob Hollister kneeling. The two soldiers depicting the Chinese are Privates Swanick (Left) and Private Smart. [Private Swanick was later killed in Northern Ireland 28.10.1974].
