4th Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white photo of 'H' Company plus the Drums and Bugles at Charlton Park, Malmesbury, taken at a weekend camp. Most of the men came from Swindon, many from the GWR works there but 'H' Company included 1 Platoon from Marlborough. Most of the men in this picture served in India in either 1/4 Wiltshire or 2/4 Wiltshire during the 1st World War. Facing the camera [Centre Front] is Captain D.C.A. Morrison [Swindon Solicitor], to his right Lieutenant G. Arkell [part of the brewing family], to the left Lieutenant Phelps [A Swindon town hall official], to the left of Lt Phelps is Sergeant Thorne [PSI], next to Thorne is Bugle Major Nevill, next to Lt Arkell Sergeant Elwood a long serving volunteer who had served in the Boer War. The big bass drummer sat in the front is Drummer Sutton an Ex regular of the Wiltshire Regiment who also served in the Boer War. Sat far left is Band Sergeant P. Noad.
