View ItemWiltshire Regiment - Various documents regarding Captain Frederick William Stoddart which include a memorial scroll for him and a condolence letter from the King George to the next of kin of those who died during the Great War, which was enclosed with it. There are two letters to Mrs Stoddart. The one dated 22 December 1914 is regarding her dead husband, the signature of the sender is illegible. The second letter is dated 29 November 1914, it is regarding posting Captain Stoddart's correspondence on to Mrs Stoddart, the signature on the letter is illegible. There is a booklet entitled 'Copies of testimonials' devoted to Captain Stoddart which was enclosed with a letter (it could have been a speech) written by Captain F W Stoddart. It is regarding his application for a post of secretary and also the testimonials mentioned above. There are two versions of the text, one is typed and the other one is a carbon copy with handmade added notes, dated March 1912. There are a programme for an Athletic Sport Event held by the 1st Battalion on 29 and 30 August 1913, an undated newspaper entitled 'The Glory of Neuve Chapelle

It informs Mrs Clark that her husband was severely wounded in his abdomen and two legs and taken to hospital, where he died on 20th August 1915. It also gives details of a cemetery where he was buried. The card was sent on 22nd August 1915.

View Item1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - Various documents regarding Private Francis Joseph Price. There is a notification of his death, probably sent to his wife, dated 10th June 1915. It includes information that Private F. J. Price was killed in action on 17th May 1915; there is also a letter from Infantry Records Office sent to Mrs. E. Price, on 3rd November 1920, notifying that the body of Private F. J. Price had to be exhumed and re-buried. Other documents include one from the Imperial War Graves Commission notifying preparations for the erection of a headstone in Cemetery Pont du Hem Mil, over the grave of Private F. J. Price, a memorial scroll for Private F. J. Price and an award record from the Records Office regarding sending Mrs. Price the 1914 Star, which would have been conferred upon Private F. J. Price had he lived.

View Item1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A letter sent from Mrs. Guppy to the Curator of the Regimental Museum, dated 20th August 1983. It is regarding sending her father's (Private No. 7606 William Tuck) papers and medals to the Museum. There is also a memorial scroll for Private William Tuck, who died serving in the 1st World War on 21st October 1914, aged 28, accompanied by a letter from the King George V and a leaflet with an order form for a copy of The 8th Annual Report of the Imperial War Graves Commission, 1914. There is also a poster commemorating the fact that Private W. Tuck gave his life in the Great War and was buried at Le Touret Military Cemetery in France.
