99th Regiment - A black and white photo of the graveyard at Eshowe, the last resting place for the 31 soldiers who died during the siege, which lasted from 24 January to 3 April 1879. In addition to Lieutenant Davison, the following soldiers of the 99th Foot were also buried here: – Privates Shields and Paul (dysentery); Lewis, Roden, Swann and Venn (enteric fever); Coombes (typhoid fever); Tubb (sunstroke); Knee (drowned) and Kent (killed by Zulus).
