1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A copy of the Detail of action reported by Captain H. G. Casson on the 9th July, 1901. The report concerns the acts of gallantry carried out by Private A. Howells during a Boer attack on Modderfontein. This extract was copied by Private Howell's son in 1994.
2nd Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A copy of an extract from "With Rifle and Pick" which was among the papers of Sergeant Howells, who is mentioned in it, at this time in the 3rd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment but later transferred to the1st Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment where he was Killed in Action 11 June 1918 .

The file contains photographs and press extracts and is supported with a floppy disc containing the complete file.
1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A transcription of an audio tape made by Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Alan Hanbury Sparrow DSO. MC, relating to his service in the Battalion during the 1st World War. This was made in the 1960s. This account gives a good description of the mobilization of the Battalion at Aldershot in 1914. After the war, he wrote a book about his experiences called ?The Land Locked Lake?. The title of the book referred to the battle of Passchendale. During the 1st World War, this officer served and was wounded in both the 1st and 2nd Battalions.
2nd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A typed account of the Battalion's action at Reutel on the 24th October 1914. It was originally written by Officers and Non Commissioned Officers at the Prisoner of War Camp at Scheveingen, Holland on the 2nd September 1918. This copy was prepared by Graham Grist. Only a few of the pages of this account have ben scanned and are therefore visible - anyone needing to read the whole account should contact the Museum to make the necessary arrangements
2nd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A typed account of the Battalion's action at Reutel between the 17th to the 24th October 1914. This copy includes details of all the casualties and where they are buried or commemorated. It refers to the War Diary, Object 25345
1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A typed copy of an account of the retreat to Dunkirk by a Private Marsh. He joined in 1937 and was taken prisoner of war during the retreat to Dunkirk, after which he spent five years as a POW. Only every fifth page of the memoir have been scanned and are available here
1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A file of notes of lectures delivered at the Staff College in 1930 by Captain EAL Gueterbock and Captain MC Dempsey MC on the North West Persia campaign 1919 ? 1921. Captain Dempsey fought in this campaign as the Battalion adjutant and as a consequence had personal knowledge. Throughout the document, the Battalion were part of ?Norperforce? and referred to as ?The British Battalion?.
1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A typed hard copy of a recorded interview with Ex Private 23040489 Jim Blaney about his service with the Battalion in Cyprus during the EOKA Campaign in the 1950s for the Museum Project ?Regimental Recollections? Only a few pages have been scanned and are available here to give a flavour of the interview
2nd/4th Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A typed copy consisting of seven pages of an account of a raid by the Battalion on the 13th/14th July 1916 involving Sergeant 200970 William Charles Pottinger MM. It describes the raid and includes a sketch map of the area of operations. It was during this raid that Company Sergeant Major Graham was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - An eye witness account entitled ? Advance of the 2nd Division?, by Lieutenant Colonel A. A. Hanbury-Sparrow. It relates to his time with the Battalion in its action at the Marne in 1914. He survived the war and later wrote a book about his war time experiences called ?The Land Locked Lake?
8th Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - An account of the battle of Englefontaine, Hecq and Preux-Au-Bois in 1918. The Battalion fought in this engagement. This document was researched and produced by a local person and contains a number of images.
66th Regiment - An extract from a Royal Engineer publication believed to have been produced in the 1930s regarding the actions of Royal Engineer Officers at the Battle of Maiwand on the 27th July 1880. It primarily refers to Lieutenant HENN who was directly involved with the 66th.
