49th Regiment - A black and white photograph that is believed to be the only one in existence showing a soldier of the 49th during the Crimean War. It shows Major General Sir John L Pennefather and the staff of the second Division. Left to right are Lieutenant Wing 95th Regiment, Brevet Major William Bellairs 49th Regiment (Standing), Captain Layard, Captain Ellison, 47th Regiment, Colonel Wilbraham C.B, Sir John Pennefather K.C.B, Col the Hon Herbert, Lieutenant Colonel Thackwell, Staff Surgeon Wood M.D. Major Bellairs spent most of his time with the 49th in contact with the enemy. He went on to have a long and distinguished career which culminated with him being appointed as the Colonel of the Regiment.

Royal Berkshire Regiment - A a black and white  photograph of  Brigadier Orde Wingate [Right]  during the Chindit Operation in Burma during the 2nd World War discussing Operation ‘Longcloth’ . Left is Major Robert Benjamin Gonville Bromhead a member of his staff.George Bromhead took up his position as Brigade-Major at the Chindit training camp in Saugor, where he assisted Wingate with his operational planning for the first expedition into Burma. Major Bromhead was later  ordered by Wingate to take command of 4 Column, a Gurkha unit that formed part of Northern Group in 1943.
