66th Regiment - A black and white portrait photo of Eli Thorne in civilian clothes but wearing his medals, taken almost certainly after he left the Army which, as he was born in 1849, was presumably before 1900; he died in 1916. With the photo are two pages of his family history which includes the fact that his widow died at the age of 99 in 1962

Company as a permanent staff instructor. He enlisted in 1890 and served for twenty three years, mainly in the 1st Battalion.

1st/4th Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white copy of a photograph of Sergeant 2706 James Judd Thorne (Left with rifle) and another unidentified soldier in India sometime between 1915 and 1917. Sergeant Thorne had just killed the crocodile that had killed and eaten at least two children. When the crocodile was later cut open a number of children?s bangles were discovered.
