66th Regiment - A sepia photograph of the monument erected to the memory of the Officers, NCOs, and men of the 66th Regiment who lost their lives at the Battle of Maiwand in 1880. This is a very early image of what is known as ?The Maiwand Lion? in Forbury Gardens, Reading. It is believed that the gentleman stood right might well be the sculptor, Mr Simmonds.
