Berkshire Rifle Volunteers - A large hard bound photograph album presented to the Regiment in 1881. On the front cover is a metal plaque with a bugle horn with the letters R.V. and which reads ?Berkshire, Presented to the Officers Mess By Colonel Sir Robert Lindsey KCB, VC, December 1881?. (otherwise known as Lord Wantage). It consists of 28 pages and contains portrait images of officers who served in the Regiment in the years leading up to 1881. It appears that Lord Wantage asked officers to send in photographs of themselves. Most of the images are named but in many cases the writing is indecipherable. Each of the images are listed separately. [1881 is the year that the regiment changed its designation to the 1st Volunteer Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment]
