He was awarded the DCM whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion British West Indies Regiment. 1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photocopy of a photograph of Colour Sergeant 7551 George Henry INMAN DCM receiving his Distinguished Conduct Medal from his Majesty the King at Battle hospital, Reading, the citation reading, ?For conspicuous gallantry during an attack, when he rendered invaluable help to his officers in leading over strange and difficult ground and afterwards in reorganising his Company under very trying circumstances. Throughout the war, he has shown great bravery (LG 14.1.1916)?. This related to the attack on Fosse 8 during the Battle of Loos on the 28th September 1915.
