Photograph includes Lieutenant Bartley Denniss, who was wounded on the retreat from Mons, later served in the 5th (Service) Battalion Royal Berkshires but died from his injuries in 1918. He was the son of Richard and Rosanna Humphries, of Letcombe Regis, Wantage. He is buried in Munich Trench Britsh Cemetery, Beaumont ? Hamel, Grave C.32

62nd Regiment - A sepia portrait photograph of ex-Sergeant William Humphries, who fought, and was wounded, at the battle of Ferozeshah. He was born in Essex and joined the 62nd Foot in 1834, serving for a total of 14 years of which 13 years 132 days were spent abroad in the East Indies. He was granted a bounty of 6d per day for his gallant conduct at Ferozeshah. Later in life he became a regular visitor to the 1st Battalion. It was recorded 'the enemy's fire increased to a storm of grape and canister and within that space seven officers were killed and eleven wounded, 97 non-commissioned officers and privates fell killed and 184 wounded. Lieutenant Gubbins fell from sabre cuts in advance of his company, Lieutenant Kelly fell from sabre cuts close to the entrenchments and the following men distinguished themselves at the same place, Sergeant Humphries received a sabre cut, Lance-Corporal Floveritt wounded on his left hand, Private Short, across the head, and Private Westcott across the back'.
