1st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh?s Royal Regiment - A black and white photograph of one of the presentations by the Battalion on their departure from Berlin on the 2nd May, 1973. The events were a 'Farewell Historical Pageant' in the Kongresshalle, near the Brandenburg Gate. It consisted of a number of tableaux, one of which was the stand of the last eleven of the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment at Maiwand, Afghanistan in 1880, by members of ?B? Company. The dog representing 'Bobbie' was a stuffed Dalmatian covered in talcum powder to hide the spots (the ruse failed). Centre with his arm in a sling is Sergeant A. Hobbs whose brother also served in the Regiment. L/Corporal Wise (with his head bandaged) is kneeling to his front.
