1st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh?s Royal Regiment - A digital black and white image of the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mackereth (on the left) shaking hands with his opposite number in the Royal Marines as the Battalion took over responsibility for its area of operations in South Armagh at 09.00 hours on the 5th June 1983. The handover took place in Bessbrook Mill. Also present on the left of the image are Captain Baynham, Captain Boleau-Goad, Captain Martin and Lieutenant Gibson.
