1st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment - A colour photo of the Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Gibson, on parade at Clifton Barracks, Minden in Germany in 1969 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Regiment. The photo was taken on the square of Clifton Barracks, Minden, West Germany when the Battalion were deployed as a mechanized infantry Battalion. The Companies are arranged from left to right starting with ?A? the ?B? ?C? and lastly Support Company with Headquarters units along the front. The building at the end of the square was the cookhouse and the buildings on either side are the barrack accommodation for the Companies. At the head of the Battalion is the Commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Gibson. - 4 copies

1st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment - A black and white photograph of soldiers of ‘C’ Company prior to deployment to Ulster in 1969. August 1969 saw the rifle companies scattered worldwide. 'A' Company was in Malaysia, 'B' Company in British Honduras and 'C' Company were left holding the fort at 1 DERR’s base in Alma Barracks, Catterick, Yorkshire. The situation in Northern Ireland deteriorated to such a degree that extra troops were sent from the mainland. Here the Commanding Officer, Lt-Col. T.A. Gibson addresses ‘C’ Company and the Drums Platoon prior to their departure. Little did these soldiers know that they were the first of several generations who would be deployed in Ulster.
