Wiltshire Regiment - A sepia portrait photograph of Captain F.H. Dansey. He was commissioned in 1898, joining the 2nd Battalion in Quetta; he was the adjutant from 1909 to 1912 followed by a period on the staff. On the outbreak of the 1st World War he was Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General (DAAQMG) of the North Midland Division, Territorial Forces. During the war he was Mentioned in Despatches four times and was awarded the a Distinguished Service Order in 1916.. He commanded the 1st Battalion from 1923-27 in Tidworth, where members of it excelled themselves at the searchlight tattoos, and later at Plymouth. He was a good all round sportsman, hunter, and cricketer commanding the 2nd Battalion just prior to his retirement in 1932. He died in 1953.
