It was organized and staffed by members of the Battalion as a training expedition for local youngsters from Northern Ireland. The expedition leader was Captain D. Goodchild who was also the Chief mountaineering instructor; it included Lieutenant AN Coates (Lauglauf Ski Instructor and photographer), Sergeant G Hunt (Mountaineering Instructor and Chief Admin Assistant), Corporal A. Brame ( Mountaineering Instructor and assistant cook) , Corporal P A Burroughes (Lauglauf Ski Instructor, Diary man and assistant photographer), L/Corporal J. McDonald (Mountaineering Instructor, medical orderly and poet). This image shows the team with their instructors in Iceland; standing 4th from the left is Corporal A Brame.
