1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photocopy of a photograph of Major F S Boshell, DSO MC. He enlisted in the Regiment in 1887, and served in the ranks until 1908, when he was commissioned with the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster. His Grandfather and Father had served in the Regiment, so he naturally followed them. He was followed by his son Frank. During the 1st World War he came into his own as the Quartermaster of the 1st Battalion on the Western Front. He never let the Battalion down ensuring the re-supply of ammunition and food reached the front line troops even under enemy fire. After his retirement he became the secretary to the Princess Christians convalescent home at Woking. He died in 1937.

1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photograph of Major 'Frankie' Boshell, seen here receiving a well deserved DSO from Lord Louis Mountbatten at Johore Bahru, Singapore in 1946; he had been a company commander with the 1st Battalion both at the Battle of Kohima and in subsequent operations on the Mandalay Plain, in Burma, where he led B Company in three and D Company in two decisive actions, advancing over 200 miles in the process. As well as his DSO, Major Boshell was also mentioned in dispatches. Major Boshell's father had served in the Regiment with distinction also being awarded the DSO in the Great War. In 1963, Frank Boshell became the third commanding officer of the 1st Battalion Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire).
