The documents include Certificate of Employment during the 1dt World War (not dated), an Army Form concerning the transfer to the Army Reserve (dated the 23rd November 1915), a Special Railway Ticket for a third class single journey from Fovant to Bodmin (dated the 31st January 1919), an original cover (envelope) for certificates and other documents of a soldier on demobilisation transfer to the reserve or discharge, a Pension Form (dated the 13th July 1920), a Notice Paper to be sent to each man who has been attested and transferred to the Army Reserve under the provisions of the Royal Warrant of the 20th October 1915 (dated the 16th April 1916), a blank Short Service Form and an Out of Work Donation Policy booklet (including two dates - the 27th February 1919 and the 3rd March 1920).

Wiltshire Regiment - A letter sent from the Library of the War Office to Colonel N. C. E. Kenrick on 12th February 1960. It is a reply to the letter of 19th January (which is not in the Musuem's archives) about Colonel John Hungerford Penruddocke. Colonel J. H. Penruddocke was commanding the West Wiltshire Battalion of Volunteers in early 1800's, he was also serving with the Local Militia from 1810 to 1816.

Wiltshire Regiment - A typed Record of Service of Captain Herbert George Tyrrell No. 5566384. He enlisted in 1925 and served until 1957. During his stay in the Army he served (with the 1st and 2nd Battalion) in Egypt, China, Malaya, India, Palestine, France, Iraq, Syria and Italy. There is also a postcard with an order for Old Comrades' Association's Annual Report, which was placed by Captain H. G. Tyrrell on 4th May 1974.

1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A series of photocopied documents including the Record of Service of 2nd Lieutenant Marvel Andre Simon who was killed in action on the 29th of April 1917. The document also includes a Pay Warrant and other financial documents, an effects issue form, a telegram informing Mrs K Simon of the death of M A Simon, an application for admission to an Officer Cadet Unit, a form entitled 'Questions to be out to the Recruit before Enlistment', a Medical inspection report and an Imperial Service Obligation form. The documents cover the period 1914 to 1918.

Gloucestershire Regiment - Photocopies of documents relating to Private Frederick John Knight - There is an "In Memoriam Card" for FJ Knight, who was killed in action at Neuve-Chapelle on 31st October 1914, at the age of 24. There are also pages from "Militia man's small book" covering his previous service in the 3rd Gloucester Militia, including his date of enlistment (6th November 1907), place of birth and description of him.

Burton enlisted on the 12th of April 1883 at Reading and spent seven years in the army and five years in the Reserve. The document covers the period 1883 to 1891. Burton served in Egypt, Gibraltar and Malta. Inside the Book information is given concering his personal description, Services Abroad, Good Conduct Pay, Campaigns and Actions, Medals Awarded, Army Certificates of Education (he received a Third Class Certificate on the 27th of August 1883 which was signed by Lieutenant Colonel F J Ready and a Second Class certificate received on the 4th October 1886 signed by Major E L Dickson), information concerning his Next of Kin and Will and a section dedicated to Monthly Settlements, Clothing Account and Savings Bank Account

There are also 3 newspaper cuttings (Copyright) with articles (one of them is not complete) and photographs. One of cuttings is from The Daily Telegraph and contains an article entitled "Ultra-modern warfare."

1st [Berkshire] Volunteer Corps, Berkshire Volunteers - A Certificate of Good Service awarded, in 1902, to Sergeant W. H. Gillett who served with the 1st Volunteer Corps from 1893 to July 1902. The certificate also notes that he was presented with the South African medal and was returned as marksman three times.

5th Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A copy of the record of service for Lieutenant Colonel John Carden C.M.G. He was appointed as the 2nd in command of the Battalion with the temporary rank of Major on the 30th September 1914. He was further appointed to command the Battalion on the 31st March 1915 with the temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was killed in action at Sari Bair at Gallipoli in 1915 when his Battalion were overwhelmed by the Turks.

49th Regiment - A copy of the record of service for Major Sir James Dennis. He fought at the Battles of Copenhagen and of Queenstown and at other actions in the Upper Canada Campaign of 1812 -14. He joined the Regiment in 1796 and completed his service in 1833. This officer was responsible for a sketch showing the battle of Queenstown Heights in Canada of which there is a copy in Museum.
