3rd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A hand written note by the officer commanding troops on H.T. Maple, at sea on the 19th December 1917, praising the work of Acting Sergeant 8594 Tom Arthur Hicks. During this journey he acted as the ship's Regimental Sergeant Major (acting). It is not clear where he was going but the officer signing was part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.

It states that he was at the 43rd Stationary Hospital, El Arish, Egypt.and was suffering from gunshot wounds in both legs, received on the 29th April 1918.
