10th Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - Six air mail hand written letters from Lieutenant Colonel I.R. Baird [Commanding Officer] to Captain David West based with the 4th Battalion at Wrotham in Kent. They are undated but believed to be 1944/45 whilst the battalion was in action in Italy. Captain West had previously served in the battalion and was wounded, hence now serving with the 4th Battalion in England. The hand writing is difficult to read but it is believed the reason for the letters was so that Captain West could at a later date use the considerable amount of information to compile a Battalion history which he subsequently did with the title ?The Fighting Tenth?.
