Royal Berkshire Regiment - A photocopy of the obituary for Ex Private 8356 Henry Watts who joined on the 24th January 1887. In 1889 he transferred to the Army Medical Corps with whom he remained until 1899. He was discharged in 1899 but was immediately recalled for service in South Africa during the Boer War. He was discharged in 1903. After returning to Reading he joined the 4th Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment. His Great War service is not clear but, at some point towards the end of the war, he joined the Tank Corps. After the war he was a member of the Caversham Veterans Club. He died during an operation after the war (Date not certain), but he was aged 56.

Wiltshire Regiment - Various document relating to Sergeant No. 8843 Harry James Watts, who enlisted at Devizes on 11th April 1912. They include the cover for a book (Army Form B 2067 A), a certificate for H. J. Watts, dated 3rd April 1918, proving that he was registered under the National Registration Acts, 1915 and 1918, a Certificate of Discharge for H. J. Watts, who was discharged, in consequence of being no longer physically fit for war service, on 24th July 1917, a certificate of Character, describing him as an intelligent, sober man, dated 24th July 1917, a membership card of the Old Comrade's Association, which was issued to him on 3rd January 1927 along with Association Rules and member's record Card. There is also a document awarding H. J. Watts the War Badge on 21st August 1917. There are also two letters with references for him, which were posted to him on 14th February 1918; they are kept in an original envelope. There are also two sheets of paper with questions and answers concerning personal information and details of service for him. Finally there is a part of the Army Form W5063, which is some kind of a financial document, it is signed by H. J. Watts.
2nd Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A document which includes a newspaper cutting (Copyright) and an extract from a book. The newspaper cutting contains a photograph of the grave of Lieutenant A V West, located at the foot of the Berks Mountain near Colesberg in South Africa, the photograph was taken by Mrs Elise Watts, the name of the publication and the date when the photograph was taken are unknown.

2359 Brig E.L. LUCE, DSO, TD, Comd 115 Indep Inf Bde, accompanied by his DAAQMG arrived at 1600 hrs to spend 24 hrs with the Bn. A ceremonial gd mtg pde took place on the town square at 1800 hrs. The gd was found by C Coy; drill and turnout were excellent...
