49th Regiment - Biographical details of Lieutenant Colonel John Vincent. He was born in Ireland, and entered the army as an Ensign in 1781. He transferred as a Lieutenant into the 49th Foot in 1783. He saw service with the Regiment in Haiti, and in the campaign in Holland in 1799. He was a Major in 1795, and was appointed brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1800. Two years later, the 49th were posted to Canada. Vincent performed various garrison duties for the next ten years or so. He died in 1848.

49th Regiment - Biographical details of Lieutenant General John Vincent He initially enlisted into the 66th Regiment in 1781 but quickly transferred to the 49th in 1783. He fought with the Regiment in the Upper Canada Campaign in 1812 ? 1814.
