Wiltshire Regiment - A huge collection of letters regarding Lieutenant Colonel R. F. J. Hayward. The majority of them were sent between Mrs Ian Pratt and Colonel Boggis, the Curator of the Regimental Museum. The correspondence was written to help Mrs. Ian Pratt to compile a book entitled "Aristocracy of the Brave". The letters were written between 1956 and 1986. There is also one letter dated 1936 which includes references given to Corporal E. Longman by Colonel Hayward on 12th September 1936.

1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A chapter 32, of a book entitled "For Valour", including information about life and service of Lieutenant Colonel Reginald Frederick Johnson Hayward. Among other papers are a postcard without any image sent on 19th September 1970 to Brigadier HMA Hunter by Miss D. C. Allason, regarding their meeting, a postcard without image with a newspaper cutting (Copyright) including a photograph of R. F. J. Hayward stuck to it, a photocopy of a last will and testament of Mrs. Linda Agnes Hayward, widow of Lieutenant Colonel R. F. J. Hayward, made on 7th July 1970, a newspaper cutting with an article entitled "Lieutenant Colonel R. Hayward VC in First Worl War" regarding his winning the Victoria Cross in 1918, two obituaries for Lieutenant Colonel R. Hayward and an obituary for Mrs. Ellen Margaret Hayward. There is a newspaper cutting giving some information about the service of R. F. J. Hayward and another newspaper cutting Copyright) entitled "Regiment Left VC in Will" from Daily Telegraph Reporter, regarding leaving of his VC to the Regiment in his widow's will. Other documents include a church ticket for the Annual Re-union Church Service held in St. James, Southbroom on 22nd June 1969, a draft of a letter from Brigadier H. M. A. Hunter to Mrs L. Hayward, thanking her for presenting to the Museum equipment and documents belongng to her husband, a short biographical note regarding his service, a list of soldiers and officers with their addresses, a speech with the citation for Captain R.F.J. Hayward and a typed note entitled "The Two Victorian Crosses won by the Wiltshire Regiment". This document is regarding the German offensive on the Western Front on 23rd March 1918, when 1st Battalion was attacked in overwhelming numbers while in position in front of Frenicourt. The Battalion held its ground and Captaind RFJ Hayward was awarded the Victioria Cross for it. There is also a booklet entitled "Victoria Cross Centenary Exhibition" regarding the Exhibition held at Marlborough House between 15th and 17th July 1956. Finally there are two letters from Headquarters Regimental Depot sent to "all Exhibitors", regarding Victoria Cross Centenerary Exhibition. They are dated 8th March and 5th May 1956.

2nd Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - Soldier's 'Small Book' belonging to Corporal Sidney Hayward who enlisted in Reading on 20th September, 1897 at the age of 18 years and 4 months. The booklet lists his service abroad including that in South Africa and Egypt. It also lists the medels he was awarded during the South African campaign. He also received a Third Class Education certificate on the 2nd August 1907.

2nd Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A Mounted Infantry Certificate awarded to Private S. Hayward, dated from the 6 March, 1900 to the 20th August 1902.. The Certificate states that Privated Hayward "served with the 10th Battalion Mounted Infantry in the Field during the South African Campaign."

5th Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A collection of documents belonging to Captain P. J. Prior, the documents cover the period 1939 to 1945. Included are three speeches made to troops concerning the victory over Germany, they are dated May and June 1945 and May 1946; three Menus, the first menu is dated the 29th of November 1944, the second Friday 25th of July 1947 (the dinner was held by General Sir Miles C Dempsey), and the date of the third is unknown. Two of the Menu's have a handwritten or signatured list of attendees in them, one has the names of attendees typed in order of rank inside and on the back cover of the menu. The document includes an issue of the 'Battalion News' dated the 28th of March 1945, the location given is West Germany. There are three documents that contained detailed information on proceedures (or orders) to follow. The document includes a number of training manuals for various courses, photocopies of fitness and medical records and a memoir entitled 'Fifty Years Ago Today' written by P J Prior CBE, DL and dated the 6th of June 1994 which recalls the D Day landings.
