Royal Berkshire Regiment - A copy of ?The Flight?, 1949 telling the story of Number two squadron, Royal Air Force. One of the first officers to be a part of this squadron in 1912 was Captain G.W.P. Dawes of the the Regiment who later transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. It also includes a website extract which contains a photograph of a bi-plane piloted by Captain Dawes in 1913 when it made a forced landing in Northumberland in 1913 plus an image of Captain Dawes in flying gear (Right).

He served in the Boer War with the Volunteer detachment, later being commissioned into the Regiment. He was the first officer of the Battalion to get killed in the 1st World War.
