2nd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A copy of the attestation papers for Private 3305 Stephen Brown. He enlisted at Devizes on the27th October 1892 having had previous service in the 3rd Militia Battalion. He served in South Africa during the Boer war and was discharged on the 26th October 1904. He rejoined on the outbreak of the 1st World War joining the 7th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the 16th August 1915 at Gallipoli

He was the first CO of the Battalion after its formation in February 2007. Lieutenant Colonel Brown initially served in the Gloster?s, and later served with the 1st Battalion Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment in Bosnia shortly after the merger of 1994.
