The Rifles

  • The official site of the Rifles primarily used to advertise and promote the Regiment and contains many items of interest relating to the Regiment's "Golden Thread", that is the link to the former Regiments that make up the Rilfes.

Rifles Regimental Musuems

As the Rifles have only been in exisitence since 07 February 2007 there is no one museum dedicated to the Rifles.   Currently each founding and antecedent Regiment that makes up the Rifles have their own museum.   list below the Regimental Museums in order of precedence that form part of the ‘Rifles ‘ Regimental family.

  • The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment's museum is known as "The Keep Military Museum" and is located in Dorchester.

    • Somerset Light Infantry are located in the County Museum at Taunton and the collection is known as "sSoerset Militay Museum"

  • 62nd Regiment of Foot.   An American website dedicated to the 62nd Regiment of Foot. Contains many pages of historical research that includes photographs and paintings of the period. A must for those interested in the American War of Independence of 1777.

All housed in a splendid Grade I Listed building.

  • Mompesson House.   Owned by the National Trust, Mompesson House is a perfect example of Queen Anne architecture. It is noted for its elegant and spacious interior, especially the magnificent plasterwork and fine oak staircase.

  • Arundells - Home of Sir Edward Heath.   Situated right next door to the Rifles museum. (now closed to the public)

  • Sarum College.   A ecumenical and sesearch centre which also has a wide range of rooms, including standard and en-suite accommodation. Situated in Salisbury’s beautiful and historic Cathedral Close it is the ideal base for a visit to The Wardrobe and other local tourist attractions.
